As part of their ongoing multi million pound investment programme, Optical Express has recently spent almost £500,000 on two refits of its prime locations in the Highcross Shopping Centre in Leicester and the Westfield Shopping Centre in Derby.
The Leicester refit, which includes new flooring, air conditioning, and frame bays, enables the location to better offer the eye testing, contact lens fitting, and laser surgery consultation services that it has been providing for its patients and customers for many years. The revamped layout also enables the clinic to offer an increased selection of designer frames, including ranges from Christian Dior, Dolce and Gabbana, and Vivienne Westwood.
Jane Bott, Optical Express Manager at Leicester, commented on the changes that she has seen due to the refit.
“I’ve been at this location for nearly six years, and it’s great to see the changes that the refit has brought. The clinic has a new and fresh feel, and a fantastic new range of designer frames. We’ve seen increased footfall as a result, and the clinic is appealing to a much wider demographic, including the younger, trendier crowd.”
Optical Express acquired the two clinics in 2007, although both locations have been opticians for over twenty years. Together, they perform over 6,000 eye tests annually, in addition to laser eye surgery consultations and contact lens fittings.
The changes at Derby are equally substantial. As a result of the refit, the location now has a modern, open plan displaying its extensive range of designer frames, including Patrick Cox and Armani, which are new to the location, as well as increased ranges from Marc Jacobs, Prada and Gucci.
Derby also has more rooms to conduct laser eye surgery consultations and eye tests, and have been outfitted with the very latest in pre-screening equipment.
Anthony Colvert, Optical Express Manager at Derby, said that he was delighted with the changes.
“People are loving [the refit]. Our customers, many who have come here for years and years, can’t get over how great it looks. We’re all very excited about the new rooms and equipment as well – never have we been able to offer our customers and patients a higher level of service in a more professional environment. I couldn’t be more pleased.”
Andrew Wells, specialist refractive optometrist at Derby, was equally enthused about the refit.
“One of the best things about the clinic is that we are able to offer the complete range of optical services. I see everyone from laser eye surgery patients, to children getting their eyes tested for the first time, and regardless of age, prescription, and lifestyle, we really do have something for everyone. Thanks to the refit, we now have a more welcoming and comfortable environment in which to offer these services, and the new technology is fantastic both for me, as an optometrist, and for our patients as well.
