Optical Express are pleased to announce they are to be key sponsor of the Special Olympics Glasgow 2005 Fundraising Dinner this June, as Glasgow plays host to the Special Olympics. The event promises to be the biggest sporting event in the UK since the Commonwealth Games in Manchester.
Founded in 1968 by Eunice Kennedy Shriver, sister of President John F Kennedy, the Special Olympics’ mission is to give athletes with learning disabilities continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympic Athletes and the community.
Chairman and Chief Executive of the optical group David Moulsdale said, “Optical Express is proud to sponsor this fundraising dinner to celebrate and raise funds for this worthy event.”
The Special Olympics will see thousands of international athletes with learning disabilities take part in the 23 sports event which include football, basketball, athletics, swimming and tennis.
